Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, and you may be searching for just that perfect romantic idea that will sweep your partner off their feet. Instead of taking them out to dinner at a restaurant (hello, cliche!) consider cooking a special Valentine’s Day dinner at home, complete with romantic lighting and delectable food. Your partner will truly appreciate your efforts, and you’ll definitely enjoy avoiding the date crowds. Here’s how to have a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner at home.
1. Prepare A Great Menu
The food is definitely one of the most important aspects of hosting a dinner at home, and the food needs to take center stage. Spend some time doing research on what you can make, and don’t even consider anything that you or your partner cook at home on a regular basis. Even though you’re eating at home, you want it to look, feel and taste different from the norm. Prepare a meal with different courses, including an appetizer, a salad, a main course and a dessert.
2. Set The Table
The table at which you’re going to have your meal needs to be set up to foster a romantic environment. Strip off your old tablecloth and place a luxurious red or pink tablecloth purchased specially for the occasion to create a new and different atmosphere. Complete the look with coordinating table placemats and napkins, and of course, don’t forget the candles!
3. Plan For After Dinner Activities
While your Valentine’s Day dinner is going to be the main event, you want to make sure you have some after dinner activities planned as well. Rent a romantic movie and have a “movie night” at home, or skip the dessert at home and go out for ice cream. Be creative! You don’t have to stay inside all night, or you can do just that. It’s up to you!
