So you know what would make your time at college a whole lot better? A cheeky dorm makeover.

By nature, a bohemian bedroom is dreamy and relaxing. So if you want to lower those stress levels, whilst making your room cute and on-point, keep on reading for some major inspo…

The Cool & Blue

Ok, so the photo above is actually some chicks’ college dorm. Us? Jealous? Never! As well as that oh-so-cute blue Mac Book, this boho babe has kept it clean and soothing with a mixture of baby blue, navy and white.

The arrangement of the boho cushions immediately transform the bed into a functional ‘work sofa’. Hey: college dorms are small, so multi-functional spaces are a must!

The Dorm Ingredients

To recreate this luscious, blue, pop of goodness, you will need:

  • A printed blue bedding set. Paisleys and florals are most certainly welcome!
  • A variety of wall canvases and art works. Think dreamy scenery, dream catchers and inspirational quotes.
  • A string of fairy lights.
  • Faux hanging ivy.
  • 6-10 printed boho cushions. We suggest these beauties (they come in sets of 2- BOOM!):

The best thing about this bohemian bedroom is that everything can be purchased from a thrift store! Check out how good those hideous, standard, dorm room drawers look: yes really! This bunk bed provides a perfect basis for a hidden sleeping area underneath. All you need to do is cover it up with a mandala wall hang. There’s being disturbed by your night owl room mate instantly sorted!

Best of all, the top bunk makes a really cool ‘living area’. Simply add cushions and throws and voila!

The Dorm Ingredients

  • A mandala hang
  • A hammock chair
  • An old sofa cover
  • Various cushions
  • Fleece throws
  • Fairy lights

If you can’t find a mandala hang, a boho print table cloth would make just as chic a cover up!

9 DIY Boho Bedroom Hacks Using Scarves

As Spring begins to roll on in, it’s time to add some life and color to our bedroom. The hottest trend for 2016? Bohemian!

If you thought that a boho makeover meant forking out money on expensive ethnic fabrics and vintage finds, wipe that thought away! As a matter of fact, you only need one thing: scarves!

Today we show you nine easy DIY boho bedroom decorations using our favorite, fabric-y friends. And the best part? You can take it off the wall and rock it on the street!

The Above Bed Drape

Who needs a four poster bed when you can get the same hippy-princess vibe with just a few scarves?  To create this dreamy, draped design, I simply took the floral paisley scarf and tropical floral scarf and secured them with blue-tack above the exact center point of the bed. I then secured the top corner of each scarf further down the wall, allowing the length of the fabric to drape down. Add a dream catcher or hanging lantern in the center for an extra boho injection!

The Rainbow Table

There’s nothing worse than a scratched, stained, or down-right grotty table, but before you chuck that baby in the bin, hear me out! How about a quick, easy and oh-so-pretty makeover? This rainbow table was created by simply draping three colored scarves over the top. Plus: it’s a fab storage solution too!

You Will Need

Striped print scarf

Solid color scarf

The DIY Drapes

If your curtains are a little bit on the plain side, add some DIY drapes. The best part? If you have a curtain rail, you don’t even need blue tack!

Just grab four scarves and you are ready to go! For the top drape, take one scarf and pull the end over and through the curtain rail to secure, take the scarf length to the center of the rail and pull the end over and through the curtain rail to secure. Repeat with the other scarf on the other half of the curtain rail. Repeat for the bottom drapes and tuck the top two scarves into the bottom two so that it blends seamlessly. Embellish with a dream catcher in the center.

The Bed Runner

If the upcoming Spring/Summer season seems too hot to wear scarves, why not put your boho printed beauties to another use. Your printed scarf can work wonderfully as a bed runner. Go for clashing prints for an authentic look. Alternatively, use a colored scarf that appears in the pattern for a more polished look.

Floral paisley scarf

The Airy Curtain

According to the practices of Feng Shui, natural light is the most effective way to let positive energy into the room. But does opening your curtains leave little to your neighbor imaginations? I have the solution! Drape light colored wool scarves over your curtain rail for the privacy of a curtain and the light of an open window. Combine prints and textures for a shabby look that the hippies would certainly dig.

You Will Need

Tropical floral scarf

The Mandala Mural

A bohemian style bedroom without a mandala mural is like a cake without ice-ing. Although the hand-painted wall hangs can cost you a big buck, our DIY version will set you back a mere $20! We simply attached the top two corners of our exotic silk scarf to the wall and voila!

Curtain Tie

Tie up your curtains in style with a printed silk scarf! Perfect for adding a little color!

Shells n’ Scarves

My personal favorite, this little wall hang brings the wanderlust nature of the beach and the great outdoors into your bedroom! Although this one is a little bit more complicated than the others, it is totally worth it! Let’s get started…

You will need- a stick about 2 cms thick and 50cms long, shells, fishing line, 2 scarves.

  1. Drill small holes in the top of the shells using a hand drill.
  2. Take a piece of fishing line about 20cms long and knot the shells along it at regular intervals, leaving around 5cms free at the top.
  3. Continue until you have four strings of shells.
  4. Tie the strings at regular intervals along the stick.
  5. Drape your scarves in-between the strings of shells.

We used…
