Fashion Week Print Trends A/W 2017

It’s official: New York Fashion Week is here! As the fashion editors and glamoratti arrive to see the newest collections hit the runway, we are glued to our Instagram feeds to see what the Spring/Summer 2018 trends have in store for us.

Wait a minute, let’s hit the pause button! Aren’t we just going into Autumn Winter 2017?

True, but the fash pack always likes to be one step ahead. **Cue images of Anna Wintour in sunglasses scouting the hottest bikinis in the midst of a snowy December**

As we eagerly anticipate next seasons trends, let’s take a look at the Fashion Week Print Trends for Autumn Winter 2017. After all, these are the prints we can rock this season. Read on for the Fashion Week Print Trends from New York, London, Paris & Milan that you can wrap up in this chilly season…

Plaid

This one should barely come as a shock! After gingham has conquered our wardrobes for Spring and Summer, it’s time to hand the crown over to the prints darker and more Fall-appropriate cousin: plaid.

Tory Burch gave the pajama trend an androgynous twist with the incorporation of ‘Grandpa style’ plaid on trousers, skirts and button-up shirts. Well, as Macklemore once said… “I wear your Grandad’s clothes, I look incredible…”

Mulberry has become synonymous with plaid over the years. The quintessential English label paired plaid trenches with retro style rainboots. This is the epitome of English country chic.

Dior’s prints were less Grandad undies and more ‘stolen from your rocker boyfriend’. Leather berets and oodles of texture added to the 80s rocker vibe.

Well that’s it folks, the New York Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2017 shows are coming to a close. But what a beautiful ride it’s been; from Prabal Gurung’s political statement tees, to Kate Bosworth wearing counterfeit Calvin Klein (yes really!).

Although we’re excited as a kid in a candy store for the new trends to take over our wardrobes, the street style of the show-goers offered a whole different kind of inspiration. Outfits we can totally rock NOW.

Today we bring you the brrr-illiant (see what we did there) street style looks from New York Fashion Week. Best of all, most of these are oh-so-appropriate for cold weather. So wrap up warm and get ready to sizzle like a street style star!

Mix Your Textures

If the New York Fashion Week street scene proved anything, it’s that there is no such thing as too many textures! Take the outfit above as a prime example: glitter, cotton and fur make one heck of a statement!

The look is polished off perfectly with the addition of a silk scarf.

The artistic print silk scarf is so street style worthy!

Party In The Back

We often put so much focus on the front that we forget that the back can make a huge statement! Exhibit A: This lace-up wonder. The clash of shapes works so well and the simple palette means that those details really do the talking!

Floral Embellishments

Ditzy florals keep making an appearance season after season at New York Fashion Week and we couldn’t be happier! Add a little Spring into your look with cute, fine floral prints and lace details. However, add a thick, woolly, coat to ensure that you don’t freeze!

Get The Look

If you’re still too cold, our tropical floral scarf is a fabulous way to add florals to your look and warm you up!

The Not-So-Mellow Yellow

Forget orange, mustard is the new black! This retro hue screams 70s harder than The Beatles themselves. Not one to be afraid of taking a risk, our fave fashion blogger, Margaret Zhang, went all-out in a head-to-toe mustard ensemble. This is literal evidence that she can make us want to buy anything.

Get The Look

If head to toe mustard is waaaay too intimidating for you, ease yourself into the trend with mustard accessories. Our exotic silk scarf has pops of mustard and will uplift any ensemble.

Make A Statement In A White Bandana

Everyone-Wore-White-Bandanas

The white bandana isn’t just a pretty accessory to throw on with every outfit, it also makes a strong, political statement. As a matter of fact, the white bandana represents equality, unity and an appreciation for all mankind.

After the Business of Fashion stepped in to give the bandanas a push, they were seen on show-goers and in collections a-like. The white bandana made it’s runway debut in both Tommy Hilfiger and Prabal Gurung’s collections.

To make yours Winter appropriate, style with a conglomeration of cozy textures, such as sheepskin and wool. We are literally obsessed with this cape above. Where can we get one?

Get The Look

Our solid color scarf has the versatility of a white bandana, but is snug enough to get you through those cold, Winter days.

The Chic-Sporty

The clean sports luxe trend of the past season has been replaced with something far more raw and urban. Striped tracksuit bottoms and oversized hoodies have got us totally reminiscing about our childhoods.

This show-goer has added a polished twist to the look with a silk neck scarf and stunning handbag.

Get The Look

Take your urban style to the next level by nonchalantly throwing on the artistic print silk scarf.

The New Suit

No longer is the suit just for the office. With the nifty addition of platform heels and a longline, faux-fur coat, this workplace staple is taken truly into retro territory.

Add red lips and hippy-style aviators to make a real style statement, as seen on this New York Fashion Week babe.

Contrasting Colors

Layering coats is a great way to keep warm. However, layering two contrasting colors is an incredible way to look on-trend. When layering coats, choose a coat with a warm collar to layer underneath, wear won closed and let that collar pop!

A scarf in a contrasting color is another great way to nail this look! Our solid color scarf comes in 19 colors, so there’s one for every outfit!

Pattern Play: The A/W 2016 Collections

As Paris Fashion week draws to a close and yet another season of ‘the big 4’ comes to an end, we are left in sheer awe of the plethora of beauty that has stomped down the runways. With anticipation of so many beautiful trends, I’m ready to start rocking the Autumn-Winter 2016 trends two seasons in advance! After all, fashion is so fast-paced that we may as well get a head start!

Minimalism may be what the fashionistas are raving about now, but with a plethora of playful patterns present in London, New York, Paris and Milan, I question whether that may all be about to change. From 60s pop art prints, to star spangled banners worn with Hannibel Lector masks (no, I’m not kidding), we take a look at the patterns that ruled fashion month.

Wallpaper Florals

Hey nan, thanks for the fashion inspo! Jokes aside, demure and aged-looking florals were a big hit this fashion month.

At London Fashion Week, Erdem’s rather voyeuristic show saw models interacting with a nostalgic mansion full of overturned pianos and dusty wallpaper and the brand had nostalgic floral prints to match. Appliqued florals, vintage lace and high necklines gave the line an undeniable Georgian edge.

Carrying on the love of the Seventies that was present in her last collection, Diane von Furstenburg once again paid home to this laid back era. Flowy shapes were dotted with wallpaper floral patterns and embellished with skinny scarves, whilst suede and brick tones also  made an appearance.

Diamond Prints

Diamonds are about to become a girls best friend in more ways than one!

Somewhere between the Queen of Hearts and a Baroque boy was Prada’s A/W 2016 collection. Miuccia Prada presented a rather juxtaposing collection, with over-sized layers and stiff fabrics being the anti-thesis of femininity. This was then cleverly contrasted with lace-up corset belts, velvet and lace-up boots. However, the collection was cleverly weaved together with one consistent element: the diamond pattern. Appearing on knee-high socks and long gloves on each look, we were reminded of Alice in Wonderland, but this time, it came with a not-so-innocent after taste.

Sportsmax played with shapes using clashing geometric prints and lines, resulting in minimalist shapes with maximalist patterns. Diamond prints here have a tribal air to them, in warm, brick tones, yet still with a polished air to them.

Animal Prints

Hey there kitty cat! It’s time to unleash our inner lioness with this seasons playful catty patterns!

Saint Laurent gave animal prints a rocker edge that looked like the entire contents of Blondie front woman Debbie Harry’s closet. The 70s glam vibe was given a further push through wide leg jumpsuits, waist belts and clashing animal print faux fur. We are going to rock this trend ‘one way or another’. Sorry: couldn’t resist that pun!

At Paris Fashion Week, Givenchy presented a collection with a certain air of Native American influence. With ornithological elements, including bird wing prints, this collection certainly took a ‘more is more’ approach to fashion. Leopard prints were clashed with blocky Aztec prints and bright stripes. Welcome to the wilderness!

Cartoonish

Hearts, stars and faces left us screaming ‘Kawaii’ from the top of our lungs! If it’s cute playful and a little childish, it’s a keeper!

Mary Katranzou is one of England’s masters of prints. Known for brash and colorful creations, the designer did not disappoint! With a surrealist clashing of rainbow butterfly wings morphing into hearts, pop art faces and textured hearts, we were left feeling uplifted and inspired.

We can’t talk about cartoonish prints without Jeremy Scott coming to mind. After last season’s Barbie-inspired collection, Scott went all-out eighties brash with guitar prints and Ren and Stimpy prints. Described as ‘an acid themed rodeo full of space cowboys’, fashion doesn’t get much more out there than this!

Myan Prints

Forget Aztec prints, this fashion month was all about the Myan pattern. Swirly, colorful and oh-so-boho, we can’t wait to inject these prints into our wardrobe!

Manish Arora’s show was one big Myan rainbow. Staple denim pieces were embellished with bright swirls, animal shapes and pom poms. There were slight modern Mexican influences including cactus and wagon prints, but non-the-less, this collection certainly entered Myan hippy territory.

Your local librarian took a trip to Mexico in Gucci’s Milan Fashion Week show. Last seasons spectacle-donning introvert got given a colorful makeover and was seen donning a flamenco of ruffles, a whole lot of Parrot prints and even some Mayan symbols. We feel like we are at some sort of fiesta and we’re loving it!

The Top 10 Street Style Looks From New York Fashion Week A/W 2016

It’s official: fashion week season has kicked off! The runways of the Big Apple are in full swing and girrrl; we can’t wait to welcome these babies into our wardrobes next Winter! Although the idea of Winter may turn you into a cold, shivering wreck, let’s not forget that this is the fast-paced world of fashion and everything is always two calendar seasons ahead.

According to my Twitter feed, the streets of New York themselves have turned into some sort of style mecca. Bloggers, fashion directors and models alike have been donning their scarves in full force: and we’re loving it!

Since we aren’t all perched in the front row next to Anna Wintour, I thought I’d give you guys a heads up on my top 10 street style looks so far… and how to steal them of course! **Muahaha!**

10. Urban Ski Chic

This stylish chic could easily be hitting up the Swiss alps or going for brunch with the girls in the center of New York. Either way, her sartorially snug formula has us hooked! The oversized, padded jacket, hat and scarves contrast beautifully with the ladylike boots. Flared and wide-leg jeans are huge, so be sure to invest in some! Finally, the icing on this street style treat has to be this white, fair-aisle printed scarf. So Scandi!

She tops it off with a giant Chanel boy bag and a classic camel coat and injects a bit of English glam with a statement Burberry scarf. She adds a slight Russian edge with furry gloves and a fur topped cap. Who is this girl and can we please have her sense of style?

8. The Clash

If this ladies’ outfit was a box of ‘Roses’, she would seriously be every single kind! Managing to rock numeral prints, textures and colors can be a tricky task, but she’s pulled it out of the bag! By sticking to a minimal color palette of beige, navy and mauve, the patterns flow seamlessly into each other. She added one final clash with the red glasses, but her confidence really pulls her through!

Coming in at number three, is yet another stylish babe from down under. Seriously: is there something in the water there? Margaret Zhang is so cool that we think she deserves her own name shortening. How about M.Zhang? Doesn’t quite have that J.Law ring to it, does it?

Margaret is the queen of quirky styling and pairs her fluted maxi skirt with a half-untucked shirt. One earring, a scarf-y choker and leopard-print sunnies are only style quirks that she could come up with! Love it

Did somebody say sister sister? Coming in at the top of the style stakes are fashion bloggers Aimee and Dani Song. Their quirky-meets-classic ensemble makes us question if style is actually something we can inherit? Before lashing out at your Mum for your not-as-stylish genetic makeup, let’s take a look at how your can steal their nonchalant coolness…

For Danni’s look, layer your favorite turtleneck under a color block jacket. Team with a corresponding bag and crisp, white pants.

Only Aimee can make fanny packs cool! Her oh-so-stunning pleated culottes look incredible with her embellished top. To steal her color blocked look, correspond your jacket with one of the colors in your tops embellishments. She adds a similarly patterned silk scarf for an extra element. Can we join your gang girls?
