5 Crazy Expensive Celebrity Weddings That Will Make You Gasp

These crazy expensive celebrity weddings will have you asking: “Erm… they spent how much?:

For the everyday couple, a wedding is one of the most expensive investments they will ever make. However, for these celebrities, their wedding was just another thing to throw their not-so-sacred dollars at.

From the lavish and luxurious, to the down-right ridiculous, here’s 10 crazy expensive celebrity weddings that will make you gasp…

1.Kate Middleton & Prince William

Cost: $34 million

Venue: Westminster Abbey

Guests Included:  David & Victoria Beckham, The Queen, Sir Elton John

Who can forget that humble day in 2011 when brunette beauty Kate Middleton walked down the aisle to become a member of the royal family?

The whole world looked on as Kate Middleton and Prince William said their vows in front of 1,900 royals, political figures, friends, family and celebrities.

The whopping $34m covered Kate Middleton’s custom Alexander McQueen wedding dress ($434,000), $32 million on security and $800,000 on flowers. Erm… were the flowers made of solid gold?

Kate’s lavish banquet was certainly fit for a future queen, but you can recreate the look yourself on a budget.

Begin by layering the table with a white, floral detailed table cloth, such as our hand painted floral table cloth.

Rustic Orange

Next, add gold centerpieces, such as statues or ornaments. If cheaper gold ornaments look a little tacky, why not try spray painting roses gold?

Finally, add a mixture of flat and tall flower arrangements in an array of pink and white.

2. Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel

Cost: $6.5 million

Location: An Italian resort in Borgo Egnazia

Guests included: Jimmy Fallon, Andy Samberg & Timbaland

Justin famously sang ‘let me show you all the good things about love’ and I guess his money is one of them! The ex N-Sync star tied the knot with actress Jessica Biel at a swanky five star resort in the Italian city of Fasano.

The do’ included Justin performing a song he had written specifically for Jessica, hors d’oeuvres such as lobster in turnip top and Jessica’s custom, light pink Giambattista Valli gown.

There is something so elegant and simple about Jessica and Justin’s wedding table. Soft pink seat cushions and flowers compliment the bride’s stunning pastel pink gown, whilst a mirrored centerpiece and white tablecloth make this lavish set-up really easy to recreate on a budget.

3. Kim Kardashian & Kanye West

Cost: $12 million

Location: Forte di Belvedere, Florence

Guests included: Andre Leon Talley, Alexander Wang & Chrissy Teigan

When it comes to flashing the cash, it doesn’t get more over the top than Kimye.

The King and Queen of controversy had their nuptials in the stunning Forte di Belvedore. Creepily enough, they chose to get married in Florence as it was where their daughter, North, was conceived.

The couple arrived in a horse-drawn carriage and exchanged their vows in front of a stunning flower wall. Kim made a total of four dress changes, which we can imagine cost a couple of million alone.

This table setting is crystal, clean and oh-so-Kim.

To recreate, invest in good crystal glasswear, painted white table and chairs and create a hanging floral centerpiece.

4. George Clooney & Amal Alamuddin

Cost: $4.6 million

Location: Aman Canal Grande luxury resort in Venice

Guests included: Matt Damon, Bono & Anna Wintour

As far as expensive celebrity weddings go, George and Amal’s is on the lower end of the scale.

Like many other celebrities, the Hollywood couple tied the knot in Italy. The wedding began with a civil ceremony at Venice City hall, to which Amal wore a beautiful white pantsuit, accompanied by an oversized floppy hat.

They then danced the night away in Hotel Aman with their celebrity friends and family.

The table layout takes inspiration from Amal’s Lebanese heritage. Recreate the table with our damask style elegant table runner.

Add crystal glassware and tall candle sticks to recreate the wedding’s regal elegance.

5.Delphine Arnault and Alessandro Vallarino Gancia

Cost: $7 million

Location:Roman Catholic Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Bazas (a French national monument) & the Château d’Yquem

Guests included: Ringo Star, Jools Holland & Karl Lagerfeld

So you are probably thinking ‘who?’. Delphine Arnault is heiress to the Louis Vuitton dynasty and Vallarino Gancia is heir to a dynasty of Italian winemakers. In other words, they have a whole lot of wealth in their future. Unfortunately, their future was cut short by their untimely divorce in 2010, just 5 years after their crazy expensive wedding.

The silver-spoon-born couple wed at a monument in the South of France and had a reception at a French Chateau. Amongst all the other lavish displays, were 5,000 white roses (yep, you read that correctly).

Event Planning: A Step By Step Guide

Event planning can be so much work, it can be hard to know where to start! From venue booking, to invitations, to the largest seating plan and all the way down to the tiniest detail, it can be one big head ache.

Luckily, we’ve got your back! Whether you are planning a mates birthday bash, or are thinking of starting your own event planning company, here’s a step by step guide to creating that unforgettable event.

  1. Who? What? When? Where? Why?

Ah…. the five ‘w’s… as much as they may make you feel like you are back in a high school English lit class, they are pretty darn important to getting your event planning spot on.

Rather than jumping into the deep end without any tangible goal, it’s important to think about the event itself, why you are doing it and what exactly you want to achieve.

So stop Googling ‘helium balloon suppliers’ and ask yourself the following:

  • Who is this for?
  • What do I hope to achieve? (For example, if it is a business meeting, the aim may be networking.’
  • When must the event be?
  • Where should it be?
  • Why is the event happening?

2.  Team and Budget

Feel free to use this image, just link to www.SeniorLiving.Org

If you are a professional event planner, the team and budget pretty much come hand in hand. If it’s a personal event, think carefully about how much you are willing to spend.

If you are planning for a company or employer, your budget will have probably been set for you.

3. Date and Location

Wedding at the Cape Hotel | Photo by CHRIS+LYNN Destination Wedding Photographers www.chrispluslynn.com | Design & Floral by Elena Damy www.elenadamy.com credit: CHRIS+LYNN DESTINATION PHOTOGRAPHERS (chrispluslynn.com)

If your event has to be on a particular date, ring around suitable locations and see if they’re available. If the date of your event is flexible, go for the best venue that suits your event and your budget.

When choosing a location, it’s important to take the following into consideration:

  • Does it have the right amenities?
  • If you are planning for a company or workplace, does it fit their branding and company ethic?
  • The weather! Although an outdoor event may be amazing, it’s important to have a back up ‘indoor area’ in case it rains.
  • Will it bust your budget? Keep in mind that catering, entertainment and decor also need to be covered.
  • Is it easily accessible for guests?

4. Establish Partnerships & Sponsors

Sponsors are only relevant for those event planning for a company or work place! If you want to perhaps expand your budget, why not work in collaboration with sponsors who may wish to provide food, prizes, or even a venue!

If you cannot achieve sponsors, reach out to partners who will provide food, entertainment etc. Organizing these services in good time is core to all event planning.

5. Market!

Now it’s time for the fun stuff! When marketing and branding for your event, it’s important to keep your goals and the company’s brand in the back of your mind at all times.

To start with, establish a theme for your event. Some fun theme ideas include Bollywood, 1920s and specific dinner party themes.

If you don’t wish to have a strong theme, it’s important to establish a color scheme. Although you may think that decor is a lot further down the track, branding will be much stronger if any logos, invites or social media posts have the exact same color scheme.

First of all, develop a marketing plan. This will inevitably vary between different event genres. For example, if you are planning a charity event, how do you plan to get the word out? Social media, paid advertising, print advertising and press releases are all great ways of getting your event out there.

6. The Details

Above: An Indian style wedding with our hand painted round floral table cloth.

By this point, you should have the following elements of your event organized: venue, date, food, entertainment, any prizes, any other services. Alongside this, you should have also begun to market your event in various ways.

Now imagine all of this going to plan, for your guests  to arrive at a venue with no interesting decor theme, color palette or decorations. Yep, it would certainly be boring!

An easy way to makeover your tables is with printed table cloths and table runners. Choose a color scheme that fits your events branding and your guests will be completely blown away.

Flower arrangements are also another way to uplift or add personality to any event venue.

In order to create an event your guests will truly remember, decor is a very important part of event planning! After all, you can’t taste food on the event photos!
